Take any salad...
...then chop up some Cilantro into it. Great flavor and a new twist to your regular salad.Any good salad recipes? Now that it is getting warmer out I like to eat salads. I'm getting tired of the same
A twenty four hr. salad is always good. You layer lettuce, frozen peas, sliced hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, bacon, sugar to taste, and mozarella cheese.
well i just made an italian (cold) pasta salad over the weekend that was a hit.
I used Rotini(sp?) noodles, the three different color kind(has carrot and spinach noodles in it), italian seasoning, italian salad dressing(add to taste liking), small tomatoes(i sliced them in halves), green olives, black olives(sliced all of them in half too.) and a diced red onion(only about a slice of a medium sized one). refrigerate and eat, YUM!!!
Add any thing you like, i have seen it with croutons(careful they get soggy), cheese(cubed), pepperoni(i don't eat red meat, so i didn't use this), make it your own.
Oh, and don't forget Tuna salad, or add tuna to your dark green salads, that is good.
mix 1 block of parmesean cheese with a 1/2 cup of chopped up walnuts.add some cut up peices of hearts of palm.Put in a packet of good seasons italian dressing mix with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar.don't forget the lettuce.mix up and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
haha, yeah I know this sounds odd but...
A little while back I was scrounging around in my grandma's kitchen and i found that i wanted a salad, but she didnt have any good...up to date....dressings....even though i dont typically use dressing.
SO, i looked around and saw some sugar free aprocot preserves and blackberry preserves and decided to put some in with my salad.
I mixed those two, with raisins and i think i put a few pecans in there..
but if you are looking for something sweet, and Definately DIFFERENT.
there's an idea.
=]
hope i could help some.
All the other answers give great ideas for different topping to your salad. Also explore different kinds of lettuce or spinach for your base. Fresh Basil is also a great addition. Nuts, and various kinds of legumes.
My favorite salad:
In a shallow dish, layer the following:
Tofu cut in cubes
Chopped tomatoes
Sliced mushrooms
Chopped cilantro
A little chopped green onion
Add tuna from a can if you like
Sprinkle with a light, sesame dressing and voila! a yummy, ultra-healthy salad!
I love Greek salads with romaine lettuce, sliced red onion, calamata olives, tomatoes, pepperocinis, feta cheese and and a good Greek salad dressing.
we mix fresh salad with 1/2 cup of walnuts and 1 cup of grapes add 1 chopped apple and your fav. cheese and caesar dressing by paul newman MMMMMMmmmmm.....
seven layer salad is good. also try broccoli salad
take half a head of Cali flower and a couple stalks of broccoli and shave the ends off in a bowl then add:
1 1-2 cup of mayo
1-3 cup of splenda sugar
1tsp. of vinegar
crumbled up bacon how ever much you want ( Pre-cooked is the best u can just throw it in the microwave, less grease too.)
1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
mix it all up and that's it. put it in the fridge for a hour then enjoy !!!! you can add more of what ever you want of course its more of a taste test recipe then anything. but that is the basics.
There's this awesome salad that uses the shredded broccoli slaw, Ramen noodles, oil, cider vinegar, sunflower seeds and the pack of seasoning from the Ramen noodle pack. It's addictive.
I really like to make a pasta salad. Toss cold cooked pasta with a little olive oil. Combine with:
baby spinach/chopped romaine lettuce/spring greens
chopped green onions
chopped kalamatas or other Greek olives
cherry tomatoes
raw snap peas
sliced cucumber
chopped mint
chopped parsley
crumbled feta or chevre cheese
toss with a dressing of:
lemon juice
olive oil
oregano
thyme
cracked pepper
sea salt
I absolutely love the fresh Mediterranean flavors in this salad. I go light on the pasta, so it's still mostly veggies. Use lots of mint and parsley for a bright, summery flavor. This is also great with a little tuna, salmon, or chicken added in as well for protein.

add small container Kraft parm cheese
mix %26amp; serve.
(Does not keep well-so don't mix until ready to eat)

I like to make a spinach salad with strawberries or craisins, feta, red onion, pine nuts, and a vinaigrette. It's really refreshing.
Try field greens with strawberries, gorgonzola and walnuts with vinegarette. If you need more protein the sweetness of shrimp would go well with it.
I love taco salad, but find it tends to be quite heavy. I have adapted my winter recipe for summer. I grill chicken that I have dry rubbed with taco seasonings. Lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, red peppers, olives, queso fresco, diced cilantro and canned mild jalepenos. I toss this with a jar of salsa, salt and pepper. I top this with the chicken and avacado cream. YUM!
A bag of baby salad greens, walnuts and dried cranberries. Toss with vinegrette dressing. Yummy

One of my favorites is a romaine lettuce with candied walnuts, thin-sliced pear, swiss cheese and dried cranberries tossed with a light homemade poppyseed vinegarette dressing:
I've never actually made the dressing, but I think it has a little sugar, white vinegar, canola oil or olive, and mustard and a teaspoon of poppyseeds--it's so refreshing--I never get tired of it.
Otherwise, if you want more of a meal salad, I always love a good chef salad with rolled up and slice deli ham, turkey, soft-boiled eggs, your favorite lettuce, cheddar, and ranch dressing and any other vegetable you want to add--avocado's always a good option--full of vitamin E I think--for sure a stick to your ribs kind of salad!
try sticking in some craisins, or cranberries. With the usual veggies and cheese, and walnuts are fantastic. You could also stick in olives or fruit like mangos. Hard boiled eggs are good. Also, baby corn, or those little tiny onions. Just make sure you make the right combinations. Also, play around with new dressings. Hope this helps!
Macaroni salad, potato salad.
Green salad, just add different toppings each time and use different dressing.
Ham
Boiled Eggs
Turkey
Bacon
Olives
Different kinds of cheese
Shrimp
Crab meat
Chicken
Pepperoni
Peppers(I like Bananna Peppers Rings)
Croutons (homemade are the best)
I could go on, and on, and on.
